The New amaze Experience: amaze Link, amaze Wallet — Get the Best of Both

“amaze now works as two distinct experiences you switch between in the app: amaze Link, which lets you link up to 5 existing Mastercards without needing to top up, and amaze Wallet, which gives you 0% FX fees, InstaPoints on every wallet spend (domestic or foreign currency), and Auto Top-up so you never get declined for insufficient balance. amaze Link doesn’t add rewards on top of your linked card; you simply keep whatever that card already pays out. Referring a friend now pays a flat SGD 25 to both sides, and InstaPoints redeem as cashback, KrisFlyer miles, or a transfer discount. “

When you spend abroad, there’s often a trade-off to make: use a low-fee wallet and give up the card you already use everywhere, or keep that card and pay the FX markup. The new amaze experience is built to close that gap. Two experiences in one card – amaze Link and amaze Wallet, so you use whichever fits a given purchase instead of compromising on either.

This guide covers what each one actually does (including what amaze Link doesn’t do), plus what’s new as of September 2026: a returning cashback option and a feature called Auto Top-up, and how InstaPoints rewards work today.

At a glance:

• amaze Link: Link up to 5 Mastercards, spend directly against them with no wallet top-up needed, competitive FX handling on the transaction, but no InstaPoints, and no rewards added on top of whatever your linked card already pays

• amaze Wallet: 0% FX fees, earn InstaPoints on every wallet spend (domestic or foreign currency), hold and spend in up to 11 currencies, Auto Top-up available

• Switch freely: Choose amaze Link or Wallet per transaction, right within the app, not a one-time setup decision

• Updated InstaPoints: One InstaPoints balance, earned only through amaze Wallet and money transfers, redeemable as cashback, KrisFlyer miles, or a transfer discount

• Better referral rewards: Flat SGD 25 (2,000 InstaPoints) to both you and your friend, regardless of which Instarem product either of you uses

• No fees apply: The card itself is free, no annual fee, no processing fee, no credit check

Two ways to amaze, side by side

Here’s how the amaze card works with Wallet and Link on the app:

amaze Link: spend on your own cards, no top-up needed

amaze Link is the option for anyone who’d rather not preload a balance. Link up to 5 Singapore-issued Mastercard debit or credit cards, and every purchase through amaze draws from whichever linked card you’ve set as active. No wallet top-up required, and no risk of a decline from insufficient wallet balance, since you’re spending directly against your bank card, with amaze’s competitive FX handling layered on top of that transaction. Domestic SGD transactions through a linked card carry a 1% fee.

What it doesn’t do matters just as much: amaze Link doesn’t earn InstaPoints, and it doesn’t add any reward on top of your linked card either. Whatever that card already pays (miles, cashback, or nothing at all, since not every card has a rewards program) is unaffected by routing the spend through amaze. If your linked card happens to earn its own rewards, you keep earning those.

amaze Wallet: FX savings plus rewards

amaze Wallet is the option built for FX value and rewards together. Top up your wallet via PayNow, Apple Pay or a linked bank account.

Foreign currency spend through the wallet carries 0% FX fees, no markup and no admin fee. Domestic SGD spend through the wallet carries no fee either; the 1% domestic fee only applies to amaze Link (linked-card) transactions. This is also the only path that earns InstaPoints: 0.5 InstaPoints for every SGD 1 spent through the wallet, domestic or foreign currency, subject to eligible spend and amaze’s terms.

The wallet also lets you hold and spend in up to 11 currencies directly, which amaze Link doesn’t offer since it’s just routing spend through your existing bank cards.

New: Auto Top-up removes the manual balance-checking

One of the more practical additions to amaze Wallet: Auto Top-up. Instead of manually checking your balance before a purchase and topping up when it’s running low, Auto Top-up keeps your wallet funded automatically, so a purchase abroad doesn’t get declined mid-transaction because you forgot to top up before your trip.

This is specifically a Wallet feature. amaze Link doesn’t need it, since spend there draws directly from your linked bank card rather than a preloaded balance.

This is also what keeps you covered for cash withdrawals abroad. See amaze’s ATM fees and daily limits.

Switching between the two isn’t a one-time decision

You’re not picking Link or Wallet once and sticking with it. You switch between them per transaction, right in the app, depending on what that particular spend calls for. Keep using a card that already earns you something? Use Link. Spending abroad where FX savings and InstaPoints matter more? Use Wallet. Same amaze card, two ways to get value from it.

InstaPoints: one balance, three redemption paths

Wallet spend (0.5 InstaPoints per SGD 1, domestic or foreign currency) and money transfers (10 InstaPoints per SGD 100 sent) both feed one unified InstaPoints balance, shown in both points and SGD-equivalent.

From there, redeem as amaze cashback (1,000 points = SGD 5, or 2,000 points = SGD 25, once per calendar month for the higher SGD 25 tier), KrisFlyer miles (3 points = 1 mile, redeem minimum 1,200 points), or a discount on your next transfer (2,000 points = SGD 25 off transfers over SGD 1,000, or 400 points = SGD 5 off any transfer).

Referrals are now one flat number

Refer a friend and you both get 2,000 InstaPoints (worth SGD 25) once they complete a qualifying transaction: an overseas transfer of SGD 1,000+, or cumulative amaze spend of SGD 100+. Same reward either way, regardless of which product either of you signed up through.

World-tier Mastercard benefits, included

Every amaze card includes Mastercard’s World tier of benefits: zero liability protection against unauthorised transactions, ID theft protection with resolution assistance, 24-hour global emergency assistance for lost or stolen cards, and access to curated golf and city experiences. These apply whether you’re spending through amaze Link or amaze Wallet.

Getting started

Download the Instarem app (MyInfo with Singpass speeds up onboarding), apply for your amaze card, and set up whichever experience suits you: link a Mastercard for amaze Link, top up via PayNow or Apple Pay for amaze Wallet, or both. Your virtual card works immediately for online purchases; the physical card typically arrives within 7-14 working days.

Bottom line

• amaze still runs on the same card. Link and Wallet make it more flexible and easy to use.

Use amaze Link when you’d rather spend on a card you already have, with no balance to preload; use amaze Wallet for 0% FX and InstaPoints, with an auto top-up option so you’re never out of wallet balance. Switch between the two per transaction, whichever suits what you’re spending on.

Note: New features available on the latest Instarem app (v3.18.3 onwards).
