The Bosnian Convertible Mark (BAM) is the official currency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, introduced in 1998 to replace the Bosnia and Herzegovina dinar and other wartime currencies. Initially pegged to the German mark (hence its name), it is now pegged to the euro at a fixed rate, providing stability to the country's financial system. Issued by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BAM is the sole legal tender in the country, with both coins and banknotes in circulation. Its stability has helped maintain economic confidence in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the post-war period.
