The Tunisian Dinar (TND) is the official currency of Tunisia, issued by the Central Bank of Tunisia. It was introduced in 1960, replacing the Tunisian Franc. The dinar is a restricted currency, meaning it cannot be freely traded outside Tunisia. It is subdivided into 1,000 millimes, with coins available in denominations of 5 millimes to 5 dinars and banknotes from TND 5 to TND 50. Tunisia maintains strict foreign exchange controls, limiting the movement of dinars outside the country. The currency's stability is influenced by Tunisia’s diversified economy, including agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing.
